    Superb

Perfect location being close to Shanklin Chine, the beach, and the centre including the old village.

    Fabulous

Very friendly and efficient staff. Ideal location for beach and public transport. Excellent breakfast

Would have liked to eat in hotel in the evening but limited choice for us for evening meals

The location was excellent. Great sea views from the Hotel garden and also short walk to Shanklin Old Village and the Shanklin Chine. Breakfast selection was good.

We booked a Standard Double room. The room was fine (although probably on the small size) but the bed was terrible. Old soft mattress that I could feel the springs sticking out when lying down. Our friends booked the Deluxe Double which was much nicer and they said the bed was fine...

    Very good

The Hotel has a new owner since one or two weeks and they are very very friendly. I had problems to get in the first night, but I emailed that I will arrive late. So if you arrive late, call ahead !! The hotel is old english and needs to be renovated like much in the country. But the architecture and the staff is nice and the view is perfect. It is directly on the coastal path which goes around the Isle of wight, so you can go walking to Sandown or Ventnor or to the beach easily.

    Good

the hotel is hard to find, and before I had arrived the hotel, the staff took all the fee from my credit card, this makes me very unhappy, because it is not a deposit, it contains all the fee!!!

We chose a sea view room and it was amazing, it was so close to the beach. Also the staff we really friendly and the local pubs were excellent especially the steamer inn.

The only thing about this hotel was that the decor was really dated. Also, being near the seaside the place was very hilly. It was a very hard walk to and from the beach but it was worth it!

    Good

We only stayed for one night .The Breakfast was good and the view from our room was excellent . Our Bathroom was extremely appointed and very clean .

We felt the furnishing in the bedroom was very 70's and the TV was a small 14inch portable which we could only receive one decent channel .

I thought the en-suite was lovely

On arrival, did not even get a welcome, not even a hello! Every strange! But most important to him (the owner) was to sign in and pay the balance due! Where new here! In his slippers and eating!!! Ask if I may like a evening drink! I said I may and he said that all the stock was out of date! But could help myself with no charge!!! Breakfast, I don't like white bread! no choice just given to you! Overall, I would not pay the prices charged again, also the place needs updating. They need to improve their communications skills, if they are going to do what the previous owners had done. That's why I booked it, there reviews where very good.

Great location, by the cliff over the sea and just down from the old village. Charming hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast was good too. We were very pleased with our stay. Would stay here again as a first choice.

Hot water took more than five minutes to arrive when using the shower. I almost had a tepid shower because I didn't think the water was ever going to get warmer. Not a problem once you know about it.
